Review: Boston Beerworks

Boston Beerworks is the best burger in Boston. Sure you might be able to get a better tasting gourmet burger at some crazy five-star place, but Beerworks does regular burgers way better than regular.

We went to Boston Beerworks for dinner before going out to a comedy show for Jen’s birthday. Will Art turned us on to the Beerworks and we are eternally grateful.
Beerworks has several locations, but we always go to the one near the TD Banknorth Garden because it’s near the North Station stop directly up the Orange Line from our apartment. It’s super convenient.
It maybe a little too convenient because we always think we can fit a trip to Beerworks into our day and it always makes us extremely late for anything planned afterward.

Beerworks can be pretty packed on game nights for the Celtics and Bruins, but service is almost better when it’s full than when it’s empty.
They make all their own beer at Beerworks, but that’s not always a good thing. They usually have run out of several types of beer and sometimes you don’t really want any of the ones they have remaining.
However, the beer is really good and reasonably priced. There is usually one kind available that’s sure to please- and sometimes necessity forces you to explore new varieties of beer.

The cornerstone of the Beerworks experience is the burger. Take a look at the burger pictured above. Do you see my face? You know what I’m saying?
I’m saying, “Oooooooh! That is one rare burger.”
They are not afraid to serve up a pink patty at the Beerworks and thank god for it. They let you really taste that meaty goodness and complement it by setting it atop two spongy buns and bubbly cheese.
And don’t be afraid if things get juicy. We actually rate our burger experience according to distance dripped.

You see, if the juices drip down your hand onto your wrist, that’s a pretty good burger. If that goodness continues down further, then you’re starting to talk real quality.
Once that burger nectar hits your elbow, you just just close your eyes and say a prayer cause god just sent you an angel- to eat!
It should be mentioned that they not only serve up avocados as a side order (a rarity in Boston), but they serve it up fat. Even when they don’t, they really do.
Last time, when Jen only got three weak slices of avocados, she mentioned it to the server and he brought us like two whole avocados. Dang.

Even with the complete market saturation of pizza/sub shops in Boston, it’s surprisingly hard to find a good burger. Give up the search and get yourself down to Boston Beerworks. Beerworks has tasty beer and its burgers are absolutely delicious.

Have you checked out the burgers at Thornton’s Fenway Grill on Peterborough St.? Never had a rare one there but they are generally pretty tasty, they have the best buns and fries too. No avoacado but the cheddar bacon and sauteed onions are a good way to go.
Service sucks so sit at the bar.
